At Charlie Smith Design we recognise that every client is unique, each project requires a different approach and that all briefs need to be tackled with an open mind. In order for us to do this we have developed a work process which enables us to collaborate closely with our clients, exploring their briefs and providing effective, creative and beautiful solutions.

Research & discovery
CSD always begin with detailed research to gather a deeper understanding of the client and the project. This research can lead to and include strategy and positioning workshops, name generation or field trips. Research is condensed and captured through moodboards which will act as point of focus during a meeting with the client. This process helps to confirm CSD’s research and raises any no go areas or parts of the project to further explore.

Creative concepts
Building on our knowledge from the previous stage. Here we develop a range of creative concepts which respond to the brief. These are shared at the end of this stage with the view that one concept (or combination of) is taken forward to the next stage

Design development & refinement
Taking into account client feedback the work is developed and refined during this stage. Any commissioning or sourcing of imagery, type design, illustration or photography can be carried out at this stage along with any production enquiries. Work is shared and refined through out this stage.

Artwork & production
Here we artwork the signed of elements and oversee production.

In addition the above process we have a large number of suppliers and collaborators we regularly work with, meaning we can handle and oversee all elements of a project. Below shows just a selection collaborators we work with on a day to day basis.
